Intorduction

As stroage trends evolve and users look towards emerging connectivity
options such as SAS and SATA II, Shining Star has again raised the
bar with the release of SD-104.  Following in the sucess of the 3.5"
product line, SD-104 is the industry's first removable storage
enclosure designed to house four (4) 2.5" hard drives and is to be
mounted in a single 5.25" drive bay which typically is what's left
within a PC, Server, or rackmount for device expansion.  Shining Star
has worked closely to develop a non-proprietary 2/5" multi-drive
storage backplane designed for next generation dense storage &
embedded applications.  The modular design and interface options
allow OEMs, System Integrators and VARs to offer more capacity with
less enclosure real-estate.

Specification

SD-104 new 2.5" disk drive technology is by adopting the cutting edge
2.5" removable drive solution into 3.5" FDD space, a typical unused
drive bay in one's machine, such as workerstation or server.

Quality Engineering :
Built from solid cold-rolled steel and durable ABS materials, provides
a compact & rugged drive housing well suited for a wide variety of
storage applications. SD-104 features a precision crafted multi-
layered PCB backplane to ensure high data integrity, and minimuze
signal degradation.

Equipped with a hi-speed 9500RPM dual roll ball-bearing cooling fan
and with an operating temperature of less than 40 degress, the SD-104
can greatly reduce heat build-up, even when deployed with four 10K
enterprise SCSI disk drives.

Next Generation Design & Connectivity :
SD-104 is the first and only "compact" internal storage backplane
designed for use with (4) 2.5" SCSI/SATA/SAS Enterprise drives.  A
completely modular and ho-swap architecture makes SD-104 the perfect
building blocks for dense computing & embedded storage applications.

SD-104 is available in native Ultra 320 SCSI, Serial ATA / Serial
ATA II and the latest in Serial Attached SCSI models.
